How We Are Different

To explain how our services stand apart, it’s important to first understand what the "traditional" experience with a lawyer often looks like. If you’ve worked with an attorney to create estate planning documents before, this might sound familiar.
Typically, you meet with a lawyer who might make the process feel overly complicated and confusing. Trusting their expertise, you nod along and answer their questions, even if you don’t fully grasp what’s happening. Your primary goal is to protect your family, so you sign the documents, relieved that the task is finally complete. You take home a binder full of paperwork, put it on a shelf, mark estate planning as “done,” and move on with your life.
Later, you might recall the lawyer mentioning that you need to transfer your bank accounts into the trust. You head to the bank, but when the details are fuzzy, you call the lawyer for clarification—and receive a bill for that brief phone call. Frustrated, you decide to avoid contacting them unless absolutely necessary. Life gets busy, and things like updating your accounts or informing your lawyer when you refinance your house fall by the wayside.
Years pass. Your children grow up, your preferences for guardianship shift, and tax laws change. Yet, you hesitate to reach out to your lawyer, knowing another bill will follow. The binder gathers dust, and over time, you might even forget where it is or how to contact your lawyer. It’s only when you become incapacitated or pass away that your family finds the binder—and realizes it’s outdated. The plan no longer reflects your current life, your assets, or the law. Your loved ones are left confused and unsure of how to proceed.
Eventually, they reach out to the same lawyer, who is more than willing to guide your estate through probate because the assets were never properly transferred into the trust.
Having seen this scenario play out repeatedly during my years as a litigation attorney, I vowed that it would never happen to my clients when I started my own firm. Since then, I’ve met countless clients who have had this exact experience. Unfortunately, the traditional estate planning industry isn’t designed to serve growing families who experience change and success over time. It’s geared towards those in their 70s and 80s who are preparing for the end of life.
That’s where we stand apart. We focus on dynamic, ongoing planning that evolves with your family’s needs, ensuring that your estate plan is always up-to-date and truly protects what matters most.
